Archilochus colubris, female Ruby-throat Humming-bird / Cannaaceae, Canna lily lhttp://www.thegardenhelper.com/hummingbird.html
This pic was so wonderful to take. I had just seen the bird and lifted the camera up aimed and took it . I had no idea how it would turn out. Luckily I had the Auto Zoom on.
Hint Here, All the best shots I could have ever taken was when I did not take my camera to the garden with me. I do take the Camera out most of the time.
These Humming-birds are the only ones that reside in eastern Canada. There are few others that come this way but they do not stay. So if you see a different kind it is a very rare treat. To get Humming-birds to stay around your place you need to make it worth their while. you will need a lot of their favourite foods. Preferably the natural types. Manarda Didyma, Bee Balm is a great one, I planted an area 3 meter square and had several. One family set up home in the Lugustrum vulgare, Common Private next to it. When done right for the birds they get very territorial and they do not leave.
wow wow wow that is just amazing.....
