A Poem about Daffodils by William Wordsworth

"Daffodils" (1804)
I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,

A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch'd in never-ending line

Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,

In such a jocund company:
I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye

Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

By William Wordsworth (1770-1850).

  2. oh by the way sonny..i really love this poem.
    i think we had to memorize this in high school.
    this poem reminds me of you and sandra panda when you two were little kids and playing games...even then you were a green thumb and loved nature and flowers!
    remember, little guy, when you used to say to my little sister, "hey sandra, lets play butterflies!" you two kids were so sweet and innocent and i just wonder where the time has gone..sigh!!..love terry

  3. O Terry how I remember Sandra and I playing these games of butterflies and what ever we did back when. It has never left me. I remember you being the community supervisor of us kids all of us up to 30 or so at a time and playing British Bull Dog, or Simon Says. and so much more.
    Believe it or not I was crushed when you guys moved from Rivers, Manitoba, and a part of me never got over it. I can say I never cried so much in all my years. I became a bit of a bad ass for a time after that. In a way I should Dedicate this site to your family as well. In fact I will. Your sister had as much to do with me loving Gardening as either grandmother as she was there to keep in interested.
