Like Clock Work

Picoides pubescens, (Downy Wood Pecker). This is a great little guy. He visits like clock work. Every morning at 07:30 hrs he comes to this tree. I am interested in what he will do to-marrow as this tree was cut down to-day. I am not worried about him as he visit other trees in my neighbour-hood as well.

    I love these little guys. They are really very small. It also amazes me how they can work a tree branch and the loudness of the Tap, Tap......

    the first time i really heard wood peckers was the times that we went camping and you are right. they wake you up at the crack of dawn...worse than a rooster!
    sonny did we have them out west?...i can't really recall..
    such a noisy cute black and white, speckled little guy!..love terry

    Yes we did but not these. We had the Red Headed Wood peckers in Rivers and they are much larger.About the size of a Meadow-lark. These little guys are just a little larger than Sparrows.
