Ruby Tuesday June 07 2010

Another Ruby Tuesday, This one is special for me. My favourite Rose of them all is in bloom so here it is
My favourite Rose of them all is named for this Lady, our Queen, the Queen of Canada. If you have not guessed it yet, it is the Queen Elizabeth II Rose and here it is.
I am breaking the rules actually as I did not take this picture of Her Majesty .

If this is not perfection, then I have no idea what is. This rose is stunning. I have shown pics of it in previous entries. It is worth the look.

I just love any rose at this stage. The buds are just beautiful

This is a Dr. Huey Rose. It is an old rose type dating from 1914. Every body that has roses to-day actually have it as it is the root that most roses are grafted to now. I bought this one by it's name so it is not a graft. It is very beautiful.

Here is M. Champlain. He is an Explorer Rose and that series of Roses were designed to with stand the Canadian winters.

Here is Dr. Huey on the close up.

The inner sanctum of the Tiger Lily. I find that this is very beautiful.

And finally this week the Red Portulaca. A great little flower that was so popular n the past in the annuals garden.

Have a great week every one and enjoy the Ruby Tuesday. Please check out as many sites as you can. It is wonderful to see so many dedicated posters

  8. Terry, Queen Elizabeth II is our Queen, that has not changed what so ever. She will remain so till she dies. I do understand that some people believe that since the constitution that was not the case but it has been entrenched solidly.
I really enjoyed the sisterhood blog, I looked it over a lot to-day. She truly seems to be a very nice lady. Better I enjoyed her Blog a lot.

  34. Manang Kim, Most of my roses are actually very easy to maintain. I have used the types that are very hardy here in Canada, and the nicest part is that most are almost maintenance free. I do have a few Hybrid types as well, They require a lot of time and patients.

  35. Iowa Gardening Woman, Thank-you for the compliment.

  46. So many comments and so well-deserved! The roses are stunning.

I have discovered, through trial and error, that roses do very well in my garden. I have five mini rose bushes and one regular size yellow rosebush now and I'm so excited to continue to expand my rose garden!

I responded to your comment on my RT post but in case you don't make it back there, here is more or less what I said: my fiance and I love Nova Scotia and we are coming up on our third year this summer visiting. Wayne has been dozens of times before we met. It's becoming like a second home to us. Actually, we are Canada fans in general. Also love Montreal.

Thanks for the comment. Have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  47. wow thanx ever so much. Nova Scotia is my first love, I adore it there but things happened I now live in the Niagara region. Funny you mention Montreal. I adore Montreal and it is my favourite city in the world beyond Halifax. I have a real love for Boston as well except for Hockey and then it is Montreal all the way
