An Olympian Ruby Tuesday Vancouver 2010

A year ago I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the opening of the Vancouver Winter Games. I had two cameras and four lens with me. I must of looked like a press guy !!!!!! I had my camera set to take 3 pictures a second so it was a lot of fun going threw what ended up being a couple thousand pics on several cards. Sad story to all this was that I miss placed the cards before I ever looked at them when I got home. Any way here are a few of those pics. One I think is amazing as I caught the skier going threw the rings bang on.

The Polar Bear was just beautiful, this was just before the whale part that was just incredible to see. The ice here was just starting to break apart it looked so real.

 

This is a simulated mountain and skiers are going down the sides, wonderful to see. Thank God I had zoom lens so I could get a closer look. I spent way to much time changing Cameras and zoom lens, But I am glad I did it.

Wayne Gretzky lighting his part of the torch. Of course this became world famous as part of the torch failed to open up. Being in the stadium we had no idea there was a problem. Leave it to the press to harp on it for days

Ruby Tuesday from Halifax, Nova Scotia.

George Montague-Dunk, Earl of Halifax, had been instrumental in obtaining British government approval for a projected town. And so in his honour the new founded village was named Halifax. Halifax was also the site of the largest military fort in the Empire. It was constructed to help protect British North America from the Americans. An earlier fort was built to help protect all the British colonies including the "13" from the French.
Halifax for a time was the premier city of Canada. It then became Montreal, and to-day it is now Toronto.

Halifax, Nova Scotia seen from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Halifax has a half a million people and is the largest city in Canada's Eastern Provinces (the Maritime Provinces). It is also the Capital of Nova Scotia.

The City Harbour. It really is very beautiful. This was taken at sun raise the other day.  I lived here for many years and my Children and my Grandson were born here.

Nova Scotia has the highest tides in the world. They can be as much as 20 meters in variance. Here is a pic of a high tide on a pier. the next is a low tide but this one is only 10 meters in difference.

.Here is the famous Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia lighthouse. It is a very beautiful light-house and the ocean views are amazing.

 Container shipping is big business in Halifax. These ones are located at the mouth of the harbour, in the south end.

Ruby Tuesday January 18 2011

I was at a wonderful restaurant in Dunnville, Ontario to-day I live in this town part time. and here was this great sign. Lots f Ruby Red here

Here is the whole display. We actually have a religious colony called the Mennonites that live here and they do not use cars but horse and carriage. It was not meant for them but rather as a decoration.

 Here is a Heinz Ketchup can for the smokers buts at that Restaurant. I just love how the snow and red combine and look so patriotic.

 Now back to my Dunnville home, It was - 30 o C to-day here and that was a record, including wind chill. It was so cold to-day that it was a National News type of a story. Even the sky was pink from the cold. I have to admit that it was the camera not me that saw the sky so pink at 7 this morning at sun raise.

And finally for to-day the wishing well. The poor plastic flowers felt the cold as well. Do not feel sad for me as for to-marrow we are expecting rain, and + 5 o C. This is a day in the life, in Southern Ontario, Canada.

Ruby Tuesday Jan 10 2011 / Cold and Snow / froid et la neige

To-day is a cold -17 o C and we have snow. Yuk!!!!!! Coldest day this winter so far....

Aujourd'hui est un froid -17 ° C et nous avons de la neige. Yuk !!!!!! Jour le plus froid de l'hiver jusqu'à présent ....

No red here in this pic, but if you where out side you would get red fast enough. Man it is cold to-day.

No red here either but just a nice sign for all who visit to-day. There is snow and cold on it,  but I hope the sign warms you up even if a little.

My Daughter and her boy friend came for a visit during Christmas, and here are a few pics. Also here is my other little girl Asia the Shih-Tzu

Ma fille et son petit ami est venu pour une visite à Noël, et voici quelques photos. Également dans ce pic est mon autre petite fille en Asia du Shih-Tzu.

She was here for her birthday and traveled here from Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Elle était là pour son anniversaire et est venu ici de Halifax, Nouvelle-Écosse.

Of course we had dinner as well. It was really good and my daughter helped me with it ~!!!!!

Bien sûr, nous avons dîné ainsi. Il était vraiment bon et ma fille m'a aidé avec elle ~!!!!!

Her better half serves our Great Nation in the Navy, out of Halifax. He is on the HMCS Athabaskan.

Sa meilleure moitié sert notre Grande Nation dans la Marine, à partir de Halifax. Il est sur le HMCS Athabaskan.

A Christmas Ruby Tuesday

Merry Christmas all, and the best of the Winter or Summer Season where ever you live.

Please check out the previous post as well as it tells the story of Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer as well that it is the true story of how the story was created. It is a good read. Also very sad in the first half.

My dinning-room table centre piece for this year. Some times I have to remember that opulence really is not a Christmas theme. So I take it any way and make it simpler. I guess we all get caught up in the moment.Silver, Marble, and Poinsettia's are really not about Christmas.

Ma pièce salle à manger centre de table pour cette année. Quelques fois je dois rappeler que l'opulence n'est pas vraiment un thème de Noël. Donc, je prends n'importe quelle manière et le rendre plus simple. Je suppose que nous serons tous pris dans la moment.Silver, marbre, et Poinsettia sont pas vraiment au sujet de Noël.

For some reason I could not take a good picture of this. Anyway, Christmas is supposed to be about the birth of the Humanized Lord, the Son of God. These pieces I bought with snow shoveling money in Manitoba when I was ten. I hate to admit it but that was 40 years ago!!!!!

Pour une raison quelconque, je ne pouvais pas prendre une bonne photo de cette. Quoi qu'il en soit, Noël est censé être sur la naissance du Seigneur humanisés, le Fils de Dieu. Ces pièces, j'ai acheté avec l'argent pelletage de la neige au Manitoba quand j'avais dix ans. Je déteste l'admettre, mais qui était il ya 40 ans !!!!!

The angels are so important in the story of the Birth of Christ. They are the messengers. They start the spread of the good news. More so they tell Joseph it is okay and it was all from God. Joseph I feel does not get much credit in the story of the birth of Christ. So much was put on his shoulders. We forget the Christmas story actually takes us all the way to the flight to Egypt, not just for that one day of the birth.

 Les anges sont si importants dans l'histoire de la naissance du Christ. Sont les messagers. Ils commencent à la propagation des bonnes nouvelles. Plus encore, ils dire à Joseph qu'il est acceptable et ce fut tout de Dieu. Joseph je pense ne pas beaucoup de crédit dans l'histoire de la naissance du Christ. Tant a été mis sur ses épaules. Nous oublions l'histoire de Noël prend effectivement nous tous le chemin de la fuite en Egypte, non seulement pour ce jour-là de la naissance.

All said Merry Christmas to all who read this in the next few days. I hope what ever your traditions are that they are fun filled and placed in the hands of God. For the non Christians I wish you a happy and fun filled holiday. Also remember that Boxing Day is also the feast Day of St. Steven, the first murdered follower of Christ.

My Dunnville home decked out for Christmas. Not to fancy this year!!!! That is our first snow fall and it is already gone. Rain day to-day

The Gospel According to Matthew tells the story of the birth of Christ, also in Luke. It is a sad and inspirational story that every one should read. It tells the non commercial story of the birth of Christ. The first part shown here tells the story of the ancestors of Christ from Abraham to David, then to Jesus

A rather large floral display. This is a Mexican Tradition incorporating Poinsettia's and gold to represent Christmas. To-day it is embraced threw out the New World.

I could have had a large 2.5 meter Christmas tree in my house but this little 1 meter tree is so special to me. I bought it for my Grandmother for what became her last Christmas. She hated it. However after I left the Seniors Home (Grandview Lodge) the nursing staff told me that she did not take her eyes of it and she loved it. Ever since that time it has become the primary focus point of my home at Christmas.

My Nativity Set. It is set up in my Dinning-room. I had this since I was ten years old in CFB Rivers, Manitoba. I was brought up on Military Bases. I have added the trees in the last couple of years. People at times are not aware of the fact that this display is actually a grouping that represents a 2 year period. I always put the Jesus figure out on Christmas Eve after Midnight Mass. This is just my thing not a tradition that I might not be aware of. The Manger it self is long gone so now I set it up differently each year with out it.

 

Canada means in direct translation "the Village" or also the"Meeting Place". Both translations are correct. So from my Village (Canada) here displayed to all of you "Merry Christmas". Above the Christmas Village is a picture of my Grandparents that once owned this lovely old Victorian home. Also to which this Blog is dedicated to.
